It's Game Time: Galaga

Good evening my nerds! Speaking of all that time traveling yesterday made me want to dive back into the 1980's for a bit, and what's a better way to do that than to get out a fantastic retro game?
Galaga, a shooting arcade game came out in 1981 and eventually evolved into a NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) game. This is not like your stereotypical shooting game to today's standards though. Galaga gives you control of a spaceship, which you shoot down aliens with, as demonstrated by the picture below. The goal of every level in order to move on is to eliminate all of the aliens, which gets increasingly more difficult as you proceed into higher levels. I prefer simple yet fun games and Galaga is one of those games. It's so cute, when you shoot the game makes a stereotypical "pew" noise. I call it my shooting game because I don't have fast enough reflexes for most shooting games that were released recently, unfortunately.
But wait, there's more! Galaga is actually the second video game in a series called the Galaxian series, as seen by the list provided below:

1. Galaxian (1979)
2. Galaga (1981)
3. Gaplus (also known as Galaga 3) (1984)
4. Galaga '88 (1987)
5. Galaga '90 (1987) (a re-release of Galaga '99 for the TurboGrafx-16)
6. Galaxian (1990)
7. Attack of the Zolgear (1994)
8. Galaga Arrangement (1995) (released as a part of Namco Classic Collection Vol. 1)
9. Galaga Legions (2008)
10. Galaga Legions DX (2011)
11. Galaga 3D Impact (2011)

What a beauty, if you don't like Galaga, there are newer versions you could try, or even an older version. However, I haven't tried all of these yes so I do not have a second recommendation on this list, sorry! As a side note, number eight on the ist mentions a weird name, Namco. For those who do not know, Namco is the name of the Japanese company that originally released the game.
Try it out, it's fun! Play it for free at http://nintendo8.com/game/118/galaga/ however this doesn't have the sound as far as I am aware. You can also buy it for 500-600 points (depending on the version) on the Wii's Wii Shop Channel in the virtual console section.
TIP: If an alien is shooting blue beams at you and you have an extra ship, you can let it take your ship to have a double ship IF you shoot down the alien, NOT YOUR SHIP, when it is flying towards you.

~Stay awesome.
